Guest face search
Guest face search lets wedding guests find their own photos: they open a face-search link, take a selfie, and Pixamatch shows every photo from that photo set they appear in. This page covers what guests see, what to do when no photos come back, and how guests' privacy is protected.
The links
Face-search links you shared earlier keep working: guests open them and search as before. The studio no longer makes new ones. The old photo-set page that had the share and QR buttons is gone, and selects do not offer guest face search.
When photos are uploaded, Pixamatch finds the faces in them. A guest's selfie is compared with those faces, and matching photos are shown to the guest. A search only ever looks at the one photo set the link belongs to. Guests need no app and no account.
What guests see
The guest page says FIND YOUR MOMENTS and offers two ways to search:
- Start Guided Search — the camera opens and walks the guest through three poses: Face Forward, then Turn Left and Turn Right. For the first pose the guest taps I'm Ready; the side poses capture automatically after a short countdown. Side views help find the guest in more photos, but they can search with the front photo alone: Skip → during the side poses searches with what is captured so far, and the round arrow button (Start over) begins again.
- Quick Upload — the guest picks an existing photo of themselves instead of using the camera.
While the photo set has fewer than ten faces indexed, a "Still Adding Photos" note says the photos are still being scanned and to check back soon.
Results show as "Found N Photos". Guests can sort by Match, Time or Name, open any photo full screen, and use Save Photo to download it. Results come 60 at a time: "Showing X of Y" and Load More Photos at the bottom show the rest. New Search starts again.
The browser asks the guest for camera permission the first time. If they refuse, the page stays on "Starting camera…". They should allow the camera in the browser's site settings and reload the page, or use Quick Upload instead.
When no photos come back
A guest may see No Matches Found with "No photos found matching your face.", and the buttons Try Guided Search and Go Back. Other messages mean the same thing in more detail. "Front face error: no_face_detected" means no face was found in the selfie. "Threshold not met for any candidates." means the selfie did not match anyone closely enough.
Suggest these to the guest:
- Use good light. Face a window or a light, not a bright background. Avoid dark rooms and strong shadows.
- Look straight at the camera for the first pose, with the whole face inside the oval, and hold still.
- Take off sunglasses, and move hair, a hand or a dupatta away from the face.
- Use Guided Search rather than Quick Upload, so the side views are included.
- Try the right link. Each part has its own link, so a guest who attended only the Reception should use the Reception link.
Some photos cannot be found by any selfie. Faces that are very small in the frame, blurred, or turned far to the side are not indexed, so a guest who is far away in a group shot may not get that photo. Photos are also searchable only after they finish uploading and indexing, so a search while an upload is still running can miss the newest photos.
If many guests report no results on a set that has finished uploading, contact Pixamatch support with the select name.
Privacy
- Only that photo set. A search checks faces in the one photo set the link belongs to. It never returns photos from another event, another part or another studio.
- The selfie is not kept. The selfie is used for that one search and deleted from our server as soon as the search finishes. The guest page says so under the search buttons and under the camera: "Your selfie is only used to find your photos and is deleted right after the search."
- Guests see only their matches. The guest page does not list the whole set; it shows only the photos that matched the selfie.
Anyone who has the link can run a search on that photo set, so share it with the event's guests only.
Tell guests that face search is available before you share the link, for example with a short note next to the QR code. The full rules are in the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service, linked at the bottom of the guest page's start screen only.
Still stuck? In the studio, ask Pixie, the help chat (Ask Pixie in the sidebar on a computer, the Pixie tab on a phone). Pixamatch answers every message.
